A Crash Course in Animation Labor History

Presented by The Animation Guild's Young Workers Committee

The Animation Guild contract expires this August 16th with negotiations starting August 12th, but what does that mean and how did we get here?

For the curious amateur, the labor activist, and the jaded professional alike: See how we got to this unprecedented moment in cartoon history. Ask your burning questions, see what worked and what didn’t, and get a new perspective on one of the most uniquely American industries in all of history.

Join labor activist, animator, and speaker Stephanie Delazeri for an interactive talk covering the history of unions, strikes, and battles between animation workers and studios.

The goal of the talk will be to help people have a better understanding of why animation is still an exploitative industry today, with the hope that by sharing the history of animation labor with both animation workers and audiences, we can strengthen the fight for better wages and working conditions in the industry.
