In this workshop, film programmer and filmmaker Imani Davis will do a deep dive on what a film programmer does, highlighting key responsibilities and tasks, required skills and qualities. She'll highlight her own journey and learnings from starting up her own festival. Through this, she hopes to offer insight on this perspective as filmmakers are gearing up for the film festival circuit. After discussing the day to day of programmers, she'll discuss film festival strategy and what film programmers might be looking for based on data and stories collected from fellow programmers. Attendees will walk away with more insider knowledge and strategy to help them in their approach to getting their films seen at festivals and showcases.
