My Spirit, Home is a nostalgia~themed poetry reading that recalls scenes from personal, ancestral, and collective memory with works by paru frances (filipinx artist/chef), janira hernandez (mexican-american director), and Thabile Makue (South African healer and writer).
The sentimental writings will traverse through topics of third culture upbringings, migration, and intergenerational healing through the practice of remembrance.

Thabile Makue is Los Angeles based South African healer and writer. They were the 2016–17 Current State of Poetry National South African Slam champion. Their debut collection, Mamaseko, was released in 2020 by the University of Nebraska Press. Their work has been included in multiple journals as well as 20.35 Africa: An Anthology of Contemporary Poetry and New Daughters of Africa: An International Anthology of Writing by Women of African Descent.
Janira Natalie Hernandez is a Mexican-American writer, director and multimedia artist based in Ontario, CA. Their work centers femme and working class experiences and explores themes revolving around friendship, family, isolation and belonging.
Paru Frances (she/they) is a filipinx artist + chef based in unceded Tongva Territory. Their writing is inspired by the spiritual bonds between beings and the medicinal power of artmaking. She is of native Ibaloi, Visayan + Tagalog, and Chinese (Hokkien) ancestry.
