New Forms of Power is really just about the oldest forms of power. The power flowers have to become fruit, the ability that some creatures have to interchange genders, the sway that the sun, moon and stars have over our personas. I am currently beginning my middle ages in life and the world is always trying to trick me into a linear way of thought, that everything in the past is lost and everything in the future is pending on my current productivity. If I didn’t do it already, it’s too late and I am too old to do it now. But of course this isn’t true, the skies and flowers show us that it is circular. Things come back around, you can try again, and it is never too late or too early, and if it is, we can start again. I have shed many skins and tried many forms of art making. It feels good to create space for the printmaking and textiles that I have been doing and meeting back up with my first ways of art making, which is painting and drawing. New forms of power is about exalting and observing my current time, place and spirit.
